By:Isabel Fierro |

• This new camera is worldwide Class I/II/III, Division 1 and Zone 1/21 certified for use in hazardous areas.

Axis Communications, the market leader in network video, has launched the AXIS XPQ1785 explosion-protected PTZ camera, the first produced in-house by the company. AXIS XPQ1785 is an explosion-protected device designed to monitor wide areas and is certified for use in hazardous areas around the world. It has a pre-installed smoke and fire detection analytics solution, which provides an additional level of security for the early detection of fires, a real advantage in applications related to employee health, safety and care for the environment. .

In relation to the launch, Jesper Olavi, Global Product Manager and responsible for explosion-protected cameras at Axis, assures that “many people already knew that Axis had explosion-protected cameras in its product catalog for years, but a camera This type of self-manufacture provides numerous advantages. We can now optimize the design of every aspect of the camera, from the ARTPEC system-on-chip to the explosion-proof housing. And customers have the peace of mind that they will be able to access all the advanced features of Axis cameras and, at the same time, enjoy maximum protection against explosions.”

Stainless steel (316L) chamber has Class I/II/III, Division 1, and Zone 1/21 international certifications for use in hazardous locations (meets NEC, CEC, ATEX, IECEx and other requirements) . With a pre-installed smoke detection analytics solution, you can identify signs of fire in potentially combustible environments, helping to protect personnel and minimize risk.

Main features of AXIS XPQ1785:

• International certifications for hazardous areas

• Smoke alert analytics

• Zipstream and Lightfinder

• HDTV 1080p and 32x optical zoom

• -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F)

This robust camera facilitates the remote control of production processes, to reduce professional visits to restricted environments and at risk of explosion to an essential minimum. Plus, it can use 110-230V AC power, so no external power supply is required. And the RJ45 and SFP ports ensure easy installation.

The control of the design of the housing is essential, since it allows to adapt its structure to the characteristics of the camera. Thus, the explosion-proof housing will never limit the possibilities of an Axis camera, in aspects such as field of view, working temperature range or connectivity options. In addition, international certifications and unique part numbers translate into greater simplicity, reducing delivery times, improving availability around the world, and offering customers great deployment flexibility.

“By manufacturing explosion-protected cameras in-house, we are able to ensure performance and quality at every level, as well as integrate cybersecurity into every step of the supply chain. We have total control of the entire process and thus we can take full advantage of our 40 years of experience in the field of production”, concluded Jesper Olavi, Global Product Manager and responsible for explosion-protected cameras at Axis Communications.
